Notes for Jesse (Seth?) DEXTER
There are some question about Jesse Dexter's name. The following from Barbara Schwartz
Seth Hathaway1 Dexter, son of Benjamin Dexter and Marcy (Mercy) Hathaway was born in Rochester, Bristol Co., MA 6 Dec 1775. Seth died 19 Jul 1832 in Randolph, Orange Co., VT, at 56 years of age.
He married Anna Powers 25 Oct 1802 in Hartford, Windsor Co., VT. Although this record gives the name of the groom as Jesse Dexter I feel quite certain that this is Seth. There was no Jesse Dexter listed in the 1800 census in Vermont. Seth and Anna Dexter held land together and Anna was listed in probate records as being the wife of Seth Dexter.
