MacLean--Irwin
Of charm and interest was the wedding ceremony solemnized at 12:30 on
Saturday, at Low, Que. when Miss Mildred A. Irwin daughter of Mr, and Mrs.
W.R. Irwin was united in marriage to Mr, Edmund C. MacLean, son of Mr.
Thomas MacLean and the late Mrs. MacLean. Rev. A.B. Hubley officiated.
The bride, who was unattended, was given in marriage by her father. Mrs.
Kearney was organist, and the soloist was Rev. T. A. Woods. The ceremony
took place at the bride's home, which was attractively decorated with
delphinium, carnations, snapdragon, lilies and ferns.
The bride was attractive in her wedding gown of imported cellophane lace
over matching taffeta, in Pompadour pink shade. Fashioned on long, moulded
lines, with a high Empire waistline, the bodice from was softly shirred at
the shoulders, the fullness forming a deep V neckline, and trimmed with a
standing wired collar. The fitted sleeves, with a graceful point over the
hand, ere designed with a shirred panel of the lace at the shoulders. The
full skirt, in swing fashion, fell in graceful folds to the floor. Her hat
was a matching model in attractive design, and she carried a shower bouquet
of blossoms.
Mrs. Irwin, mother of the bride wore a smart street length dress of woo
violet mousseline sheer over matching crepe. The front of the blouse was
softly draped from shoulder to waistline, forming a deep V neckline. The
short sleeves were designed with a full panel of shirring. The skirt,
fashioned with gores for fullness, fell in soft folds. Her hat was of
similar color in becoming design.
Following the ceremony, a dinner and reception was held at the home of
the bride's parents. Later, Mr. and Mrs. MacLean left to spend their
honeymoon in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Northern Quebec. On their
return they will reside in Northern Ontario. For travelling the bride chose
a smart tailored dress, with a separate jacket of monotone petal-cool crepe
in luggage tan shade.
Among the out-of-town guests were Mr. and Mrs. H.L. Morrison, Miss Lois
Morrison, Mr. Warren Jeffrey, Miss Iris Holden, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Brooks,
Mrs, Robert McGillivray, Mrs. Wallace Brooks, Mrs. Pollard, Misses Ruth and
Wilda Pollard, Mr. and Mrs. T. Richens, and Mrs. Beatrice Kearney, all of
Ottawa; Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Brooks, Master Billie Brooks, Mrs. Elwin
McKenney, all of North Bay; Mrs. Harry Bolam, Misses Anna and Frances
Bolam, Campbell's Bay; Mr. and Mrs. C. Bolam, Otter Lake, Que.; Rev. and
Mrs. T. A. Woods, Aston, Ont.
